I Love Soccer!

DSC_0137

Who knew this dancer girl would love soccer so much. I have always loved sports, but I didn’t know anything about soccer a year ago. I never played soccer, never watched soccer, never had a boyfriend soccer player. Then, we signed up Mckenzee for her first season of soccer last Spring…we love it. that first season was awesome. She played for the Y, co-ed, 3-4 year olds and did amazing. She scored 11 goals on the season and just flew around the field. She wasn’t a bit nervous and looked forward to scoring every week. Then came the next division, 5-6 year olds. This season was rough for a little girl who had just turned 5. She played on a team of 9 boys and two girls. Some boys who were almost 7. She shut down. She was scared. She was lucky to get her foot on the ball, much less score. After her first game she got in the car and said, “I’m not as good at soccer as I used to be.” It was not a fun season, but we stuck it out. She ran hard and showed up at every game. We weren’t sure if she would want to play again, but she said she did so this season we wanted to get her confidence back. We signed her up for an all girls league, separated by one age. So she plays with just 5 year old girls. It’s a big change. Last season they played with 4 offense, 2 defense and a goalie. This season she plays 3 on 3, for the whole field, no goalie. It’s much easier, but we don’t care, we just want her to gain confidence and love soccer again, and it’s slowly working. She’s had two games and hasn’t scored yet, but come very close. She’s taking the ball away and kicking a lot and I can tell her spark is coming back.

Can’t wait for Saturday! Go Pink Pandas!

No More Babies

005
I’m trying to come to terms with entering this next chapter in my life. Colby is almost one and we are not having any more babies. I will not be feeding any more babies. And I have lots of pregnant friends, which makes me just a tiny bit jealous. It’s been around 6 years that I’ve been in the baby making business…or the thinking about the next baby business. I. LOVED. BEING. PREGNANT. No lie, I loved it. Call me crazy. I started to miss being pregnant very soon after delivering each of my babies. I would actually love to be pregnant again, I’d love to hold a newborn of my own again, but that’s where I’m kind of done with that fantasy. I feel absolutely complete in our family. I just have to get my brain around what I’m supposed to think about next. And when I try really hard I can see it……Dr. Pepper will reenter my life soon on occasion, peanut butter, staying gone as long as I want, perhaps a swimsuit mom suit, a trip with my girlfriends, cute bras, planning a trip to Disneyworld. This could be okay. :) But if any of you out there need me to carry a baby for you please call, but I get to keep it for the first month….those are my terms. :)

Homeschooling Terrifies Me

DSCF2215

It’s time I admitted that I really don’t have this homeschooling thing altogether. That my really cute classroom isn’t as perfect as it seems and just because I have a degree in education doesn’t mean I will automatically be good at it. I am really scared. I’m scared that I won’t be able to divide my time between Mckenzee’s Kindergarten needs, Riley’s preschool needs and Colby’s Mommy needs. I’m scared that I will be so exhausted that I won’t be good at teacher or a good mother.

The thing is I know I’m capable. I know my abilities are there. I know I’m a great teacher. None of that means I will be good at teaching my own children in my home. It just doesn’t. I wish that I had someone right alongside me, doing it with me, but I really feel like this time I need to rely on God…. As I should be doing with every aspect of my life. I know He wants me to homeschool. I think I want to homeschool. I also think deep deep down I am fighting it a little. I think I’m scared that God may be calling me to homeschool longer than I want to homeschool. That this time His plan may be way different than mine. I don’t know.

Up until now I haven’t felt this same pressure because preschool just isn’t the same as real school. Next year is real school. Next year I am totally committed. I can’t have an off day, a lazy day, a give into my kids day when they don’t want to do school. I’m worried that I don’t have what it takes, or that I’ll feel the need to try and prove to others that I’m doing a good job. I’m worried because I’m really good at starting things that I don’t finish. This cannot be one of those things.

This consumes my thoughts on a daily basis. I have to wonder if those homeschooling moms who appear to have it all together really have it all together, and if they do, what is their secret and how can I find out?

It's Been Awhile

I am disappointed that I have let this blog go for so long. I enjoy keeping it as an online scrapbook for our family and hope to get back to that.

In the meantime.....

WE HAD A BABY!

March 11, 2011 at 11:11am Colby Ryan Roberts was added to our family. He weighed 6lbs 3oz. and measured 19 inches long.

His sweet little self is four months old now. He has a precious little face, squishy legs and lots of BROWN hair. I just want to eat him up. He's a very happy little guy as long as he's being held. He loves his big sister and brother and they adore him.

Here are  some hospital pics:

Tales of Mckenzee and Riley

A couple of Mckenzee funnies:

Chris: Darn ole Greg Jennings just scored a touchdown. He’s gonna make me sweat this one out.

Anjolee: It’s fun to sweat it out.

Chris: When you are watching the game.

Mckenzee: Daddy, you know you don’t always win.

Anjolee to Chris: Okay, I’ll get the kids ready while you load the dishwasher and then we’ll go

Chris: Okay, sounds good (sitting at the computer)

Anjolee: (finishes with Riley and calls out) Sweetie, are you still sitting at the computer?

Chris: uuuuuummmmm no.

Mckenzee: Daddy, you lying.

Riley funnies:

We went out to Whole Foods with my mom the other day. There are restaurants nearby and when we got out of the car Riley was smelling them up and starting chomping his jaws all the way in the store. Then, I had to stop at the strawberry sampler thing for him inside. I think I ended up letting him eat 6 or 7 strawberries and my mom gave him 2 more. He was near meltdown when we drove the buggy away from there so I got him one of those already washed containers of mixed berries...cost me 6 bucks.. and he was happily eating that. Then, I'm filling my bag with pluots and when I look back to the buggy he is eating a nectarine that he snagged. He looks at me and holds it up and says "mmmm, apple." What do you do at that point? I can't put it back and if I tried to take it he would scream, so I got another one and went and paid for it and told her to keep it cause it needed to go back. At the checkout he was apparently still starving even though he finished off the whole container of berries and his nectarine and so I gave him a yogurt I had bought. So, in total it cost be about $8 just to feed Riley during my grocery trip, which was not at meal time.

**********************************************************************************************************

It was bath time because of too much sandbox fun. I cleaned the tub, from the previous sandy bath and then put them in and I got in the shower.  (Our shower is all glass so I can see them the whole time) About half way through my shower Mckenzee is yelling, "Riley's going poo poo!" So I get out dripping wet and get them out and shut the doors to the bathroom so they can't leave. I then proceed to fish for poop with my flour sifter that got demoted to bath toy and get out the toys and clean the tub and in the mean time they are playing in my closet until Mckenzee comes out cracking up and says, "Riley peed in your closet on the floor! It was a water fountain!” Great, buddy.

I wanted to do something really cute, but the time has passed so I want to get this little baby up here.

We our so excited about this new little blessing and the completion of our family. Big Sister Mckenzee is beyond thrilled and Big Brother Riley doesn’t have a clue. Updates to come. Hopefully we will find out the gender at the end of the month!

Book Reviews

I have wanted to do book reviews for awhile and I am going to give it a try. These are a couple of Riley man’s current favorites. I will try and do a Halloween/Pumpkin book review next.

Who Will Tuck Me in Tonight

by Carol Roth

This book is precious. Riley thinks it’s hilarious, although he may be laughing at his mother who makes a fool of herself doing animal voices. It is about a little lamb who is ready for bed, but can’t find his mother. All of the other farm animal mothers try and tuck him in, but none of them can do it right. Finally, his mother returns and tucks him in just right and he falls fast asleep. I think this book would be entertaining for ages 18mos-6years maybe longer.

Big Red Barn

by Margaret Wise Brown

This book is about farm animals that live together in a big red barn and what they do during the day. It is written like a poem in rhythm. The illustrations totally make the book. On the last few pages it shows the sun going down and then it gets dark and the picture is almost black, but you can still see all the shadows of the animals in the barn sleeping. It looks like it would really look if you were there in the dark. The illustrator is Felicia Bond. She also illustrated the If You Give a Mouse a Cookie books. This book would be entertaining for ages 1-4yrs. Our copy has gotten very worn over the last couple of weeks. Riley carries it around half the day and tells me the story and says barn and tells the animals night night.
